Super DAC - I'm really happy so far!

The DAC can very well convert 48k integer rates into DSD (e.g. 3.07MHz with DSD64).
It says so in the documentation for the AK4499 and also makes the SDA-6 perfect.

Hello, i owned the DI20 for a year now and this piece of gear has been a tremendous change on my system which is not a HiFi system at the origin. I am making mastering for music production so the chain i own is very special, my monitors are ME GEITHAIN RL 901 K (https://sonicpurity.com.au/blog/2017/9/27/me-geithain-active-speakers) and my DAC is a MADA , AD-DA (from Fred FORSELL TECHNOLOGIES) one due its job in the studio. I just have a volume controler from him too and that 's it to listen music. I am on TIDAL .
The DI20 has opened the sound in many ways, the treebles are crystal clear and the bass goes deeper, but the most significant is that it's now tri-dimentionnal instead of being stereo !!! the sound is out of the speakers ! so this is really a beautiful DI to add to any system that need a new one or for somebody who is searching to get one ! Thn'x to Magnat Hifi !

Le changement récent de mon cable usb m'a fait penser que je pouvais aller plus loin, et le convertisseur Holo m'a séduit sur le papier par sa robuste fabrication et son entrée usb sophistiquée.
Restait à voir si le réalité correspondrait à ce que mes oreilles en attendaient.
Par rapport à mon ancien GD Audio 19, je n'ai pas été déçu. La scène sonore d'abord : les instruments sont là, en grandeur réelle, avec non seulement la largeur, mais la profondeur et la hauteur (quand l'enregistrement le permet, car c'est là qu'on se rend compte que la plupart du temps on n'a qu'un patchwork de détails sonores juxtaposés). J'ai vraiment dans mon salon le piano d'Ivan Moravec, le clavecin de Christophe Rousset ou le trio d'Oscar Peterson, en trois dimensions.
L'équilibre tonal a changé, car le registre grave, repoussé plus bas, ne masque plus le bas medium, et les instruments ressortent mieux timbrés et plus lumineux. Enfin on a tout un ensemble d'harmoniques, de résonances et d'extinction de notes, qui métamorphose complètement la personnalité de l'instrument.
Par ailleurs, le son ne se tasse pas dans les sforzandos, mais au contraire gagne en volume et en ampleur.
Le grand clavecin Couchet que touche Christophe Rousset dans les Suites de Louis Couperin paraît comme illuminé de l'intérieur, et prend tour à tour des sonorités de luth, de carillon, voire d'orgue, absentes jusque là. Bien plus, cette musique, sur laquelle je n'avais qu'une oreille admirative, me devient maintenant captivante.
Le grand piano forte Broadwood, à deux claviers, que joue Georg Ewald Dahler dans les Impromptus de Schubert, instrument que j'ai dans l'oreille, pour l'avoir entendu en récital, est beaucoup plus riche en harmoniques, et prend par moments des teintes cuivrées ou argentées, sans parler d'un registre grave à la fois modelé, profond et léger, jamais empâté ni confus ou asséné.
Je mets le légendaire enregistrement des Nocturnes de Chopin, par Ivan Moravec, impeccablement remasterisé par Supraphon, et c'est le choc, ou plutôt l'hypnose : une sonorité liquide et pourtant incroyablement dense, affranchie des barres de mesure, une variété de toucher à se demander s'il n'y a pas plusieurs pianos, les notes les plus ténues d'une fermeté tactiles, un son palpable, et une main droite qui décroche des pluies d'étoiles en haut du clavier.
Le plus impressionnant est peut-être l'extinction de la vibration de la note à la fin de chaque Nocturne, qui se poursuit sur plusieurs secondes, et j'entend encore (ou je ressens pour être plus exact) après, la présence de l'air qui a été déplacé, comme lorsqu'un chat rentre la nuit dans votre chambre, et que vous devinez sa présence silencieuse.
J'ai fait pas mal de photo dans ma vie, et je dirai que ce Holo me fait penser aux objectifs Summicron de Leitz : on pouvait trouver plus de détails, de micro ceci ou celà ailleurs, mais rien n'égalait les Summicron pour la résolution, le transfert des contrastes de noir et blancs, la profondeur et le modelé des gris.
Jusque là mon ampli à tubes 2A3 Emission Labs n'avait pas encore trouvé de partenaire amont au niveau de ses qualités, mais c'est maintenant chose faite

A la recherche d’un dac qui puisse remplacer mon Ayon Skylla2 (R2R PCM1704K) avec plus de neutralité et de résolution mais sans perdre les qualités tonales du R2R, l’âme de la musique, et tout en rivalisant avec mon principal dac le Mola Mola Tambaqui, le May est un choix que je ne regretterai pas.

Une partie numérique au dessus de tout soupçon, des étages de conversion R2R Nos compatible tous formats avec une partie DSD dédiée réussie, un étage de sortie à l’évidence bien pensé et réalisé qui donne toutes ses lettres de noblesses à la restitution sonore et creuse l’écart avec la concurrence utilisant des AOP lissant et réfrigérant la restitution, subtile positionnement fait de neutralité et beauté, crédibilité sans aspect analytique comme beaucoup de dacs à puces Delta Sigma dont les filtres ne sont pas débrayables, et sans en faire trop et verser dans des colorations éloignant de la réalité. Le May analyse finement en donnant le liant, la continuité naturelle entre les sons qui fait que l’on écoute de la musique et non du son, et avec son étage de sortie il le fait sans froideur, en sachant impliquer l’auditeur.

Que demander de plus?…. Une intégration de la lecture réseau qui soit aussi réussie que les entrées USB et I2S du May serait un plus pour s’asseoir sur la concurrence en terme de versatilité. Le May n’est pas donné si l’on considère son circuit de vente, la nécessité d’acquérir un bon lecteur réseau et cablage de liaison pour l’accompagner face à ses concurrents , mais il sait justifier son positionnement par de vrais arguments techniques et sonores donc recommandé sans réserve aux amoureux de la musique qui fuient les colorations mais fuient la désincarnation et la froideur également.

Excellent support de Magna Hifi dans la démarche d’acquisition, toujours une réponse rapide de Jos aux questions posées avant et après la vente.

Hello,
yes in 2022, I 've upgraded my old Sonons Connect from 2013.
Because I 'm looking for a small streamer with a strong software and for reasonable price.
Many solutions are good but with poor software and many bugs.
Sonos is working perfectly all the time, has physical boutons for volume and play & pause....and that's the key
The Upgrade ? ....Wow.... Even without Hi-Res... it is gorgeous.
Real 'analogic' sound, quiet, large sound stage, very balanced everywhere.
A huge difference compared to the standard Connect.
You have to ship your Sonos with tracking# and it's coming back also with tracking#.
It takes few days for this upgrade, and communication is fast and good.
I would recommand this upgrade for those who are still looking for the perfect streamer....

All my pre-purchase questions were answered very quickly and comprehensively by Magnahifi. I ordered on Friday and the device arrived already on the following Tuesday. The sound is stunning! So far I have used a DAC for about 7000 EUR. I'm sorry to say that it sounds like a toy against the Holo May. The sound of the May is in-describable, simply divine. This is a amazing headphone amp. Very high resolution and wide stereo image. Sound is stunning in XLR output to my Focal Clear MG. I am very pleased with this amp. My previous Musician Andromeda headphone amp is ver y good, but this one go"s much farther in all.

After testing Pathos, Classe, Jef Rowland, etc I must say that Audio GD 3A is astonishing for the price, any price actually. Tigh, extend and full bass, very transparent midrange (enfase to voices , cords, piano and blow instruments) and suficientlly airy and resolving top end (a bit harsh at first but after a few days of burn in it]s all gone). Layering and insttruments separation is very good. Soundstage is 3D, texture and expansive, but coherent.
Very low distortion at high volumes and full boby in low ones.
My sistem is base on Michi P5 and S5 pre and power amplifier, respectly. Rigth now I subjectively perfer the carater of the Audio GD 3A Power Amp. What a dilema! This tell a lot!

After some good advice of Rob and a great listening session at Magna's I purchased the Spring 3-2 DAC as a replacement for my Naim ND5XS. The Naim is still in place as a streaming device and digitally connected to the Spring 3. No regrets at all. The DAC is a great step forward in my listening experience. The DAC really invites you to listen to more and more music.

Purchased a Holo May KTE. I had some questions before buying, all got quickly and in details answered by Jos. After delivery I noticed a humming noise coming from the item sometimes. Jos gave me advices on different possible solutions. I am very satisfied with both of the dac and Magna Hifi. This is the kind of costumer service I love in the US but rarely experience in the EU. ?

Excellent DDC! Prior to purchasing, I used the Gustard U18, Singxer SU-6 and M2TECH hiFace Two. Audio-GD's DI-20HE ranks above them all! Take note that you'll need around 200 hours for the device to 'burn in' and fully settle. You will notice qualitative improvements within that period.

MagnaHifi's customer service has been courteous and knowledgeable! They install the latest firmware on units prior to shipping and include a USB Blaster dongle for future firmware 'rolling'. Delivery to my doorstep (USA) was within the week of ordering, which is impressive considering the unit shipped from the other side of the planet!

Look no further if you seek a top-of-the-line DDC. :)

After another good and objective advice from the Magna team bought the spring3-2. And after some serious burn in time with quality ups and downs …. I can’t say anything else than it is stunningly amazing. Never experienced such live feeling at home. Staging, clarity is just amazing. Really happy. Give it some weeks of burn in and you will be amazed by the musical performance this machine can put in place.
