R2R 11 LADDER DAC CHARACTERISTICS

RESISTOR TOLERANCE
Sommige fabrikanten beweren goede prestaties te behalen omdat ze ladderweerstanden met de laagste tolerantie gebruiken. Het volgende rekenvoorbeeld behandelt dit. Bij 16 bit de tolerantie van 1/66536, 0,1% (1/1000) is het bij lang niet genoeg om fatsoenlijke prestaties te behalen. Zelfs het gebruik van weerstanden met 0,01% (1/10000) tolerantie, laagste tolerantie die vandaag beschikbaar is, kan niet de gewenste prestaties leveren Dit is slechts 16 bit, stel je een 24-berekening voor! To process 24 bit resolution it would require resistors with a tolerance of 001%. Dit is puur theoretisch; als deze tolerantie zou bestaan, zal de discretie van de schakellogicachips al te veel interne impedantie hebben en een dergelijk ontwerp opschudden. De tolerantie van de weerstand zal nooit onvolkomenheden van een ladder oplossen.
De oplossing ligt in de correctie van de ladder en is niet alleen afhankelijk van de tolerantie van weerstanden. Its a combination of both: Ultra-low tolerance resistors controlled by a correction technology using very high speed with parallel FPGA processing.
